The Questions
When it comes to the safety and longevity of your archived documents and vital historical information, there are several questions that the Clerk and Master and Wardens of the Livery Companies of The City of London (and indeed elsewhere) should be asking him or herself...
- How safe are your unique and valuable “Heritage” documents, such as Royal Charter(s), original minutes and records and other such items that cannot be produced again?
- How protected is your more recent electronically generated data? Are you managing it as carefully as your historic paper-based documentation? After all, it too will become of historical importance in time.
- How easily can your members access your data? And are they able to achieve this with differing levels of security dependent on the confidentiality of each item?
- How easy is it for your Clerk to search for answers to obscure questions? Or indeed the more prosaic day-to-day information? Would such information requests take a disproportionate amount of time and resources (and by extension, waste money)?
- Can you guarantee to your successors that you have looked after and protected your Company’s most valuable asset: its knowledge and information?
SDS City of London has provided the Worshipful Company of Marketors with solutions to these questions which we would like to share with you and your livery company.
